Our values

As we’re a social enterprise, our values are at the heart of everything we do; they anchor us in our founding principles, whilst making sure we move forwards in the right way. Here are the core values that every member of our team shares.

We are:

Big thinkers and bold doers

We know that big challenges like food insecurity and social isolation need big solutions. So we dare to think differently and try new things, and we keep going until we’ve nailed it. And when something doesn’t go to plan, we treat it as a learning experience.

How can you tell?

We’ve created a radical new model for social enterprise, underpinned by a sustainable income stream, which we’re set to share with the sector. And despite being told it would take two years to create and publish a fundraising recipe book, we did it in nine months flat.

We are:

Hungry for change and thirsty for success

We don’t buy into the concept of ‘It is what it is’. Instead, we take our founding belief that everyone has something to offer, and use it to create new places and programmes which support people to develop and thrive. When they succeed, so do we.

How can you tell?

We’ve reinvented teambuilding for the social impact age, transformed disused spaces into community hubs, and taken community members from kitchen-avoiders to meal-makers, and from home cooks to paid catering employees.

We are:

Open-hearted and close-knit

We believe that meaningful connections make life more satisfying. So we use food and cooking to bring people together, and to build links that last. From community members to corporate clients, everyone is welcome in the Cook for Good family.

How can you tell?

We’ve built a vocal network of corporate champions, and helped neighbours to become friends. As one long-standing member of our community told us: "This is the first time that I have really felt like part of this community. I don’t just come for the food, but for the community feeling.”

We are:

Respectful and committed

We put dignity and respect at the heart of everything we do, and work hard to earn the trust of the people we serve. As a result, our community know that we’re in it for the long haul, and feel confident that we’ve got their backs.

How can you tell?

We consulted with the community before we began, and have continued to do so throughout the last four years, inviting residents to take part in a community panel. Our volunteers are all community members, who are as invested in us as we are in them.
